Is A Dual Temp Swim Spa Worth It? (Video)
Hydropool has six different swim spa models, we’re going to focus on one of them in this article, the 19DTAX. This model is unique from the rest in that it has a hot tub section attached to it, the rest of Hydropool’s models are exclusively swim spas. In this article, we’re going to compare some of the key pros and cons vs. a separate swim spa and hot tub combo.

What Are The Key Differences?
There are many differences between a 19DTAX and a separate swim spa and hot tub combo, let’s go through the key ones below;
- The 19DTAX does not have different length or seating configurations. Picking a separate swim spa and hot tub combo lets you choose the layout for both sections.
- The 19DTAX has one cover for both sides. If desired however, the Rollaway cover can be partially opened to expose only one section of the spa.
- The hot tub portion of the 19DTAX is fixed, you cannot option it as a Gold or Platinum like you can with Hydropool’s Signature hot tub line.
- The two section of the 19DTAX cannot be separated, while a separate swim spa and hot tub combo can be located in two different spots.
- The 19DTAX is more space efficient. To get the equivalent features in a separate swim spa and hot tub combo, more square footage is required.
- A separate swim spa and hot tub combo can be less expensive as there are more options available.
What Are The Similarities?
These lines have a couple key similarities as well;
- They can all be used in the winter time.
- They have the same available exterior colour options
- The Aquatic & Executive line of swim spas and Signature line of hot tubs all feature Hydropool’s patented Self-Cleaning Filtration.
- Just like the Aquatic & Executive line of swim spas the 19DTAX can be optioned with the Sport or a Trainer swim system.
What is Hydropool’s patented Self-Cleaning system?
Hydropool sells the world’s only line of Self-Cleaning swim spas, this feature is standard on all Aquatic and Executive models. They have a patent on this for swim spas, which is roughly based on how commercial pools are cleaned.
Self-cleaning swim spas have these three unique aspects:
- A topside skimmer – Any contaminant in water will either float on the surface or sink to the bottom. A skimmer on the water’s surface removes anything floating on top.
- A floor vacuum – The other half of contaminants in water will sink to the bottom, it is the floor vacuums job to sucks this debris up. This eliminates the need for a separate pool vacuum.
- Pressurized filtration – This means the water is forced through your filter under high pressure, rather than being lazily drawn through. Filtering water this way ensures the cleaning system filters the entire body of water every over 140 times per day.
