Are Family Fun Pools Any Good? (Video)
Hydropool Play vs. Aquatic & Executive Swim Spas
Hydropool has three lines of swim spas, we’re going to focus on one of them in this article, their Play line. In a nutshell, the Play line is a hot tub that’s the size of a swim spa. Compared to the Aquatic & Executive lines, they are both made in Mississauga, and have a lot of parts commonality, but they fill very different roles.

What Are The Key Differences?
There are many differences between the Play line and Aquatic & Executive lines, let’s go through the key ones below;
- The Play models do not have Self-Cleaning filtration. Watch the video below to learn more about this feature.
- They have far more seating than the Aquatic & Executive lines, with capacity up to 9 people.
- While they have swim jets, due to the size and orientation of the spa itself, swimming is harder than the models in the Aquatic & Executive lines.
- The Aquatic & Executive lines have touch screen control pads, while the Play has a simpler button style.
- There are more options available on the Aquatic & Executive lines, the Play comes in only the standard configuration.
What Are The Similarities?
These lines have a couple key similarities as well;
- They can all be used in the winter time.
- They have the same available exterior colour options.
- They are all the same height and width, only the length changes.
- They are all have the same cover options.
What is Hydropool’s patented Self-Cleaning system?
Hydropool sells the world’s only line of Self-Cleaning swim spas, this feature is standard on all Aquatic and Executive models. They have a patent on this for swim spas, which is roughly based on how commercial pools are cleaned.
Self-cleaning swim spas have these three unique aspects:
- A topside skimmer – Any contaminant in water will either float on the surface or sink to the bottom. A skimmer on the water’s surface removes anything floating on top.
- A floor vacuum – The other half of contaminants in water will sink to the bottom, it is the floor vacuums job to sucks this debris up. This eliminates the need for a separate pool vacuum.
- Pressurized filtration – This means the water is forced through your filter under high pressure, rather than being lazily drawn through. Filtering water this way ensures the cleaning system filters the entire body of water every over 140 times per day.
